ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

What we have done. What we are still doing.

01   Our commitment.

Higher Power Foundation is committed to ensuring that this website, and the Foundation's services, are accessible to persons with disability. This commitment runs in line with section 40 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the Harmonised Guidelines and Standards for Universal Accessibility in India, 2021.

02   Conformance target.

This website is built to substantially conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, at Level AA. Where a specific criterion is not yet met, we have noted it under Known limitations below.

03   What we have done.

  • Semantic HTML structure with correctly nested headings (h1 through h6), labelled landmarks, and ARIA roles where required.

  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for large text against the HPF Paper background.

  • Font sizes that scale with the browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or function.

  • Full keyboard navigation across every interactive element, with a visible focus indicator.

  • Alt text on every functional image. Decorative images are marked as such so screen readers skip them.

  • Form fields with associated labels. Error messages tied by aria-describedby. Clear in-line validation.

  • Links that read meaningfully out of context. No “click here” anywhere on the site.

  • A single, consistent navigation pattern across every page.

  • No flashing content. No auto-rotating content above three seconds.

04   Known limitations.

  • The horizontal lockup in the header is a raster image. We are migrating it to SVG so that screen readers receive the brand name as text rather than alt text alone.

  • Some clinical and family-facing PDFs are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. This includes excerpts from the B.A.R.E. workbooks and the Patient Handbook quick reference. We are tagging on a rolling basis. In the meantime, the Foundation will provide an alternative format on request.

05   Alternative formats, on request.

If you cannot access information on this site, the Foundation will provide it in an alternative format at no charge. Available alternatives include:

  • A read-aloud telephone summary by an admissions counsellor.

  • Large-print printed copies of the Patient Handbook quick reference.

  • A sign-language facilitator at admission and family sessions, on advance request.

  • A nominated representative may receive and read information on behalf of the patient.

06   Physical accessibility of the Foundation.

The Foundation operates from a residential building in Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru.

The ground floor is accessible via ramp. The first floor is reached by stairs only. Sessions for patients with mobility limitations are accommodated on the ground floor where clinically appropriate. Family visits are received on the ground floor.

07   Feedback.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on the site or at the Foundation, we want to hear about it.
